Our Hop skip learn programme incorporates essential social competence through interactions with other KiwiOz nannies and families providing weekly and monthly organised events. Monthly events include activities like strawberry picking, attending shows at the Pumphouse and Nature days. Weekly events include Gym groups and playgroups. These are great ways to introduce children and nannies to new and different social learning experiences.
Along with the above organised event we have regular Nanny Pods and Playdates. Most of these are organised by the visiting teacher and these interactions provide plenty of opportunity for children to practice social behaviours along with groups and one on one play dates. Nanny pods are a way to create a positive community of nannies to come together for educational activity. Visiting teachers bring out resources to support nannies and are there to facilitate conversations to exchange ideas and tips for educational activities.
Some children are more naturally socially adept than others but it’s important all children develop meaningful bonds with others. They then gain the ability to empathize and interact with others appropriately and learn to adapt to different situations. And do not worry if your little one is not overly social. Continue to provide them with opportunity to interact with other children in a familiar environment and soon enough they will grow to enjoy and benefit from other children company.
