Work as a nanny internationally:
KiwiOz Nannies offers placements worldwide and with offices in London, UK and Auckland, NZ we have placed nannies in positions throughout NZ, Australia, UK, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, the Pacific, and Canada.
Using an agency to find a position abroad is the safest and smartest way to go about nannying overseas as we screen our families and assist you all the way from interviewing for the role, writing of employment agreements and placement maintenance once you’re in a job. Your KiwiOz consultant can advise on visa’s, flights, salaries, culturally expectations and much more!
Getting a visa for Asia or the Middle East
For most positions in Asia or the Middle East the families will organise your return flights and visa. There is no age cut off and the procedure can be done relatively quickly however each country/family/role varies.
Getting a UK work visa
For most commonwealth countries your working visa options for the UK are:
Youth Mobility Scheme
In November 2008 the Working Holidaymaker Scheme stopped and the new Youth Mobility Scheme for those aged between 18 and 30 took effect. The Youth Mobility Scheme has added benefits for New Zealanders as young New Zealanders will have no restrictions on the amount of time they can spend working in the UK for the two year period. Among the new requirements, applicants for Youth Mobility Scheme visas will need to show they have the equivalent of £1600 (approximately NZ$4,500 at today’s exchange rate) to cover living expenses for their initial period in the UK.
UK Ancestry Visa
This is a 5 year visa which you can apply for if you have a grandparent who was born in the UK.
Right of Abode Visa
This is a permanent working visa which you can apply for if your parents were born in the UK.
British or European Passport
This would give you permanent rights to work in the UK or anywhere in Europe.
Spousal Visa
If your husband/ partner has a permanent UK visa you may be eligable for a Spousal Visa.
Student Visa
This would give you at least 6 months. You can only work 20 hours per week during term time but you can work full time during the holidays. You must show you have been accepted on a registered course (www.dfes.gov.uk/providersregister/) and can support yourself during your time here.
Tier 2 Skilled Workers
There is also a new Work Permit system known as Tier 2 Skilled Workers, part of the UK’s new points-based system. People wanting to apply for Tier 2 visas need to be sponsored by an employer in the UK. There are also further criteria that applicants need to satisfy with regard to minimum salary requirements and recognised educational qualification. Tier 1 for highly-skilled migrants is already up-and-running and along with ancestry visas remains unchanged.
